Just going through a little reading, I mreally liked John Stossels Popular Nonsense. Thats CFS, with the figures to prove it too. Stopping working for free for experiece is madness IMO. Its one way anyone can get something on their resume to get a foot in the door in a business they want to get a break in. I dont have many really old fotos from my early single life, but one i have is taken with my grandfather the first time i went to work wearing a tie, and it was a volunteer placement but at really high level of specialization that even today looks good on resume and I can draw on the knowledge. I also then years later had final year students on placement to supervise myself, and they were every bit as enthusiastic and thankful as I was when I was their age. This will just make all those students struggling already with a load of debt and poor prospects even worse outlook. But then I hear about many stupid policies coming from the current american administration.
Yes Walter, am familiar with Popular Nonsense.
The best and most impressive things I learned in my youth were from people who worked for free or volunteers. That magical kind of person that wants to pass on to the young what they have learned in life and relish the that feeling of accomplishment and love and charity, of contribution.
Then of course there were the Nuns and Jesuits who gave up a life of material goods to teach and try and make a better world.
The current administration that wants to control everything and take away even our cherished freedom to work for free, to learn something and run around with lawyers and file law suits against folks who take people under their wing is most distressing. Their lust for control and interference and laws, laws, laws, endless loss of control and loss of freedom is unbearable.
It's everywhere and permeating everything, how much we should weigh, what we should eat, what we can read, what we can say, what kind of car we should drive, the list of the control freaks is endless. There was one on a forum yesterday advocating laws even for love and charity. They won't wise up until they or their children are slaves working in a rice paddy for a dictator some day.
