Favorite Art Works of Members
« on: April 21, 2014, 09:02:43 pm »
The self portrait of Paul Gauguin shown as the avatar of the Art Board is a favorite of mine and used often as my desktop background.

The Romantic life of this painter has always fascinated me and I always go back to his works for sheer enjoyment.

This portrait represents the proto-cubist style -- a forerunner to cubism.

Maufra never achieved as much fame as the leading impressionists, but his work is enjoyable.  A few favorites of mine.

William Blake

    1757–1827
    Nationality: British

William Blake was a British poet, painter and printmaker. He was also a maverick, rebelling against authority in all its forms. This is clear from poems such as The Tyger and Jerusalem, as well as from his art, where he operated entirely outside the mainstream.

Some Art is just pretty and pleasant to look at, relaxing a bit.

Milton Avery, a modern American painter, always appealed to me in this regard.

A visitor looks at a sound & light show in Les Baux-de-Provence, France, on March 25. The show is part of the exhibition 'Klimt & Vienna, a Century of Gold & Colours,' & is uses multimedia to take visitors on a journey through 100 years of Viennese painting to the heart of the colorful works of Austrian painter Gustav Klimt & the artists he inspired.
